Fitzroy Yachts supports NZ Marine Cup
Auckland: 5 February 2010
Fitzroy Yachts has confirmed its sponsorship of the New Zealand Marine Cup: Kiwi Kawau Challenge, a one-day event for superyachts in Auckland on 4 March 2010.
New Zealand-based Fitzroy Yachts team believes sailing events like the NZ Marine Cup, and the others supported by the company, are great for the industry, says the company’s managing director Rodney Martin.
“We are pleased to be working with NZ Marine again to support this event. We are looking forward to a great day’s sailing, and a relaxed evening on the beach beside Mansion House on Kawau Island. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet with the superyacht owners, captains and industry professionals.”
Fitzroy Yachts has built an enviable international reputation as a superyacht builder, adds Martin. “Our team’s excellence in boat-building is based on a commitment to working with owners and delivering the designer’s brief in a way no other builder does.”
The NZ Marine Cup: Kiwi Kawau Challenge has been developed for superyacht participants to help celebrate the build-up to the Louis Vuitton World Series being contested in Auckland from 9 to 21 March this year.
The Kiwi Kawau Challenge sees superyacht participants racing under sail from the start line off Devonport Wharf inside Auckland Harbour to the finish line off Bon Accord Harbour on Kawau Island. After the racing, a prize-giving, BBQ and entertainment will complete the day. A separate division for motor yachts is also planned.
Several superyacht captains have expressed strong interest in participating and the first confirmed entry is expected by the end of the week. Entries are now open and more details can be found on this website.
